The event was streamed live and viewers quickly noticed what appeared to be an odd moment after Macron shook Biden’s hand. The U.S. president could be seen bending his knees while leaning forward. He appeared to be straining himself. The video has caused the online community to theorize about what is going on with Biden’s health.

However, it appears the video was doctored and Biden was actually reaching for his chair and attempting to sit down.

After seeing the doctored version, some poked fun at Biden while others showed concern in comments made on X, formerly Twitter.

One user, greg_price11, put together a list of highlights from the ceremony, explaining what Biden did at the event.

“Sits in an invisible chair,” the user wrote to start off the list, referencing the president’s squatting position.

“Forgets where his seat is,” he continued. “Talks about how many Russians died in Ukraine. Gets pulled away by Docta Jill as Macron greets D-Day veterans.”

Another X user, PaulEmbery, posted the video and wrote that it would be “cruel to put Biden through another election campaign.”

This isn’t the first time Biden has gone viral for seemingly odd or reportedly senile behaviour.

In another viral video in 2023, he famously slipped while deboarding Air Force One, Forbes magazine reported.

He has also been known to mumble during speeches and occasionally mix up certain words during speaking engagements. For example, when discussing the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, he instead mentioned Iraq, Reuters reported.
