I am appalled that our city is thinking of a huge tax increase for next year. This has come about due to the waste of money this council has spent. The library should not have been proposed without a referendum and all the wasted money on studies to build a new arena downtown are a waste of taxpayer dollars.

A new arena should not be built without having a referendum about it first. It is not needed. The old one is easily able to serve the purpose for many more years. Downtown does not have enough parking and it is also becoming less safe. Our bus service is the pits and I will not use it. All this is wasted taxpayer money.

Ed Erickson, Saskatoon

This haiku begs for climate action

Most people don’t care. They consume, travel and live as though all is well.

Smoke, drought, heat, extremes, driven by greedy humans. If you see, you hurt.

It is easier to ignore what’s going on; before long, too late!

One can’t do it all, but we all must do much more. I beg you: act now!

People label me: doomsdayer, grifter, liar. But I know the truth: try to help others see that we must change our ways. We learn, lest we yearn.

There is not much time to grasp our terrible state. We must all act now.

I fixate on this, which drives many folks away. It feels so lonely.

After years of toil, more are aware of our plight. Our cause grows daily.

Please help!
