First Physicians Group of Sarasota Memorial Health Care System is recruiting full-time OB Hospitalists to join our highly collaborative employed physician group in the highly desirable area of Sarasota/Venice, FL. We are located approximately 60 minutes south of Tampa and 1.5 hours north of Ft. Myers on the West Coast of Florida.

• Designated a Baby-Friendly Hospital in 2017 with successful re-designated in 2023.
• Achieved Level III Maternal Care Verification from the Joint Commission in collaboration with the American College of Obstetrics in 2023 for providing advanced care to low and moderate-risk pregnancies, as well as to high-risk patients, including subspecialty care for more complex maternal medical conditions, obstetric complications, and fetal conditions.
• No OBGYN Residents requiring supervision.

Duties And Responsibilities

• 24-hour shifts.
• 7 or 8 shifts per month (90 shifts total per year) at both the SMH-Venice Hospital and SMH Main Campus.
• Performing deliveries including C-Sections and urgent Gynecologic surgeries/procedures and consults.
• Evaluates and manages high-risk obstetrics patients.
• Weekends and holidays as part of the shift requirement.

Required Qualifications

• Board-Certification with 3+ years of experience.
• Licensed in Florida and holds a current DEA Certificate.
• Graduate of an ACGME accredited OB/GYN program.

Sarasota Memorial Hospital-Sarasota Campus, with our flagship 897-bed, acute-care hospital and 8-story Brian D. Jellison Cancer Institute Oncology Tower, is the only hospital in Sarasota County providing obstetrical services, pediatrics, Level III neonatal intensive care, psychiatric services for patients of all ages and a Level II Trauma Center.

Opened in 2021, SMH-Venice Hospital is located on a 65-acre campus and features a 365,000-square-foot, 3-story hospital currently licensed for 178 private patient suites, a 28-bed emergency care center, 8 surgical suites, and a level 1 nursery caring for babies 35+ weeks. Construction continues into 2024 to add 34 additional private rooms as well as expansion of the ER to 61 rooms, and space created to add 8 more surgical suites.
