Yakima's Craigslist Incredible Free Stuff (2024)

I remember it like it was yesterday. Ok, maybe not yesterday but, I remember the day my Dad drove up in a brand new 1966 Ford Mustang which he had purchased right here in Yakima! I was 4 at the time and couldn't have known then how iconic and popular the 'Stang would become. My Dad sure loved that car and so did I.

Unfortunately, he sold that beautiful olive/metallic green dream car in the late '70s, just a few months shy of my 16th birthday. So, yeah, I never got to drive EDU-632. Even remember her license number. I'll often cruise through Craigslist to see if there happens to be any 'great deals' on Mustangs of that era. Sort of secretly hoping Dad's old car might show up there someday. No far, no luck.

But during a recent Craigslist visit, I discovered a virtual treasure trove of items being offered FOR FREE! Now, some of the items might fall into the category of 'one man's junk is another man's treasure' but I think there may well be some useful items here - if not downright humorous.

STUFF BEING OFFERED FOR FREE ON YAKIMA'S CRAIGSLIST

This seems really cool! I alerted a couple of my collector friends - not that I want to encourage more hoarding and draw the anger of their wives - but having this 30-Year collection of National Geographic?! Wow!

Who doesn't have a pining for a pile of old tires? Of course, I'm intrigued when I attempt to imagine what those 'other purposes' might be.

I can think of many situations where part or all of this pile of dirt might be appealing. How about a first-date activity? 'Hey, wanna come to Naches with me and help me haul a free pile of dirt?' I haven't been single for 34 years but that sounds like a winning pickup line to me!

Ok - valuable stuff here. We've all been there. You needed boxes to move, and now that you're moved in, you need to get these boxes out of here. Someone is planning a move and needs boxes. Win-win.

The creativity employed by those who need to get rid of stuff always inspires me. So, this chair is broken and arguably has seen its best days, yet this owner sees a future for it - maybe in your shop? You know you love to take naps, leaning to the left, in your shop.

Can you say KEGERATOR!!!? Here's an older fridge with a freezer that works and would possibly enjoy a second life after being modified to house and serve a keg of Bale Breaker! If you do this, invite me over. You're welcome.
