Pharmaceutical chain Rite Aid plans to close five more stores, including one location in Pennsylvania.
In bankruptcy filings on April 30 and May 7, Rite Aid said it plans to close the following stores:
- 1406 Cecil B. Moore Ave., Philadelphia
- 2170 Frederick Douglas Blvd., New York
- 324 Virginia Beach Blvd., Virginia Beach, Virginia
- 500 Woodbury-Glassboro Road, Sewell, New Jersey
- 214 Lockport St., Youngstown, New York
Rite Aid, which was based in East Pennsboro Township near Camp Hill for decades and is now based in Philadelphia, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in October to begin restructuring to significantly reduce its debt.
Since October, the company has announced in bankruptcy filings the closings of 457 stores including 60 locations in Pennsylvania.
The stores that have been announced so far have been located across the state in Allegheny, Beaver, Blair, Bucks, Center, Chester, Cumberland, Delaware, Dauphin, Franklin, Lackawanna, Lawrence, Lehigh, Luzerne, Lycoming, Mercer, Monroe, Montgomery, Northampton, Philadelphia, Schuylkill, Westmoreland and York counties.
Rite Aid has announced the following store closings in Pennsylvania in filings since it filed for bankruptcy in October:

In addition, a Rite Aid store at 3200 Market St. in Camp Hill closed on Aug. 31, before the company filed for bankruptcy. Rite Aid previously announced that the store at 304 Market St., Harrisburg, would close but later said it would remain open. The Rite Aid store at 330 Cumberland Parkway in Upper Allen Township closed on Dec. 4 but wasn’t included in the bankruptcy filing.
