BROUSSARD, La – The weekend of December 1-2 provided the “Reason for the Season” and the USSSA Winter Nationals XIV brought the participants to battle for championships, however it was the TOYS for TOTS program that was the big winner.

Some 67 teams converged over the weekend at the Youngsville Sports Complex and the Broussard Sports Complex, and it was these participants who supplied in excess of 2000 toys for the Marine Corps’ TOYS for TOTS.

Marine Corps League State Commandant, Ronnie Broussard, commented “we want to thank Louisiana USSSA for their support by including Toys for Tots in this outstanding event. The efforts of this event made a lot of children happy on Christmas morning.The amount of toys collected was unbelievable. Louisiana USSSA has stepped in as a valuable partner to Toys for Tots, and its mission to provide a Christmas for all needy children.”

Broussard Mayor, Ray Bourque commented: “The City of Broussard and the Broussard Sports Complex were very proud to have been a designated location for the Toys for Tots tournament held in partnership with the US Marine Corps and USSSA. A special thank you to the people who participated in this event and for their generous donation of children’s toys. We look forward to being part of this event again in the future.”

The USSSA Baseball Championship provided the following winners: St. Mary Aces, Boys 9AA Champions; Champion Baseball, Boys 9AA Second Place; Lafayette United Black, 10AA Champion; Lafayette United Red, 10AA Second Place; LA Empire, 10 Open Champion; Acdiana Cajuns, 10 Open Second Place; LA Dodgers, 11AA Champion; Louisiana Kings, 11AA Second Place; Southside Assualt, 12 Open Champion; Evolve Baseball/Evolve Athletics, 12 Open Second Place; RSBA 13AA Champion; Southside Bayou Boys, 13AA Second Place; Shreveport Dynasty, 13 Open Champion; St. Landry Bulldogs, 13 Open Second Place;
Louisiana Cajuns, 14 Open Champions and Louisiana Drillers, 14 Open Second Place.
