Hi everyone. I'm in a dilemma and would like your opinions.
I got accepted into a DO school however i'm on a "pending acceptance list" meaning they had accepted too many students this year and so i'm basically waiting for someone to drop. However, if i do not get in this year, I would be automatically be put into their class next year without another application. I hate the idea that I might have to move to another state within a day because I can get accepted anytime between now and the first day of school.
What I kind of want to do is to let admissions know that I rather just get accepted next year so I dont have to go through the hassle of moving so last minute and being underprepared. Secondly, If am accepted next year instead, I think I want another shot at other schools again. My question is, if i reapply to schools while having that A for next year, would the other MD/DO schools know that I already have an A? Would it look bad?
I also just had another DO interview today (yes very last minute) but after doing it and them giving me info about the school, I rather go to the school that I got accepted into. Should i email them post interview that I would like to withdraw before I get the results? If i get an A wouldnt it look bad that I didnt take it for this year?
Sorry that was alot of info but I would just like some insight!

I would reach out to the school which offered you the pending acceptance and ask whether you can opt for starting next year, and state that you would prefer this due to the potential cost of moving last minute. I wouldn’t mention that you’re applying to other schools for this next reapplication cycle though. I may be wrong, but I believe the school won’t be notified if you apply to other schools. If you do decide to go somewhere else next year, you’ll probably just lose the deposit money and may be blacklisted from that school in the future, which probably won’t matter much to you if you’ll be attending a different school anyways.

Losing the deposit money won’t be much of an issue. I’m more concerned about them finding out that I applied to other schools in the meantime if I end up getting accepted for the next years class.

I feel like they wouldn’t know if you did apply to other schools. Like I’m sure there are ways for them to find out, but I doubt they’d go through the trouble if you haven’t indicated to them that you’re considering applying to other schools.

My advice though would be to apply to those other schools you’re interested in ASAP, before you receive a decision from the school you’re waiting on. That way if you do get questioned for it (which I still feel is highly unlikely), you would be able to justify it by saying that you applied to those other schools during a time of uncertainty, as opposed to applying after you’ve already formally committed to the first school.

thats very valid! ok one more question, so i just had an interview today and i think i did pretty well but i feel like i rather go to the school that i already have an acceptance for. Would it be a problem if i end up getting an A for that school but i reject the offer bc i rather go to the other school (even if i get in next year)? i really appreciate your help btw <3

No problem! sdn is like my only form of social media right now since I’m currently waitlisted at my top choice, so I’ve got plenty of time to kill on here 😭😭 but I don’t think you’d face any serious consequences if you ended up doing that. Like it may prevent you from being accepted again into THAT specific school, but it’s not like other schools would be aware of you doing that.

I think my biggest concern is if i apply to other schools this cycle and the school i got accepted to sees that, and they rescind my A 😭. prob low chances? I posted on another thread and someone said that would happen: Accepted pending status dilemma

Are you applying to other DO schools for this next cycle or just MD? If MD, then I don’t think it matters, but for DO I think they can see that you’re applying for other programs

Anyone heard any WL movement from Campbell lately or is their class pretty solid? My lease is up soon and trying to gamble if i should resign or not.

Hi I would check to see if they have any agreements with the acceptance. I read on here that some schools have rules where you can't apply to other schools while you hold a deferred acceptance (might not be your case though?). I would just double check

I haven’t gotten any agreements or contract yet bc my acceptance is still technically “pending”
